Providing Solutions for Small Buildings like West Village

TILT-UP: THE SOLUTION FOR SMALL BUILDINGS

Most people don't see tilt-up as a solution when designing a build less than 30,000 S.F.

In the last three years, we have proved them wrong, making tilt-up a successful solution to save time and money on six buildings less than 10,000 S.F.

TAP INTO YOUR CREATIVITY - TAP INTO TILT-UP

“False” formwork was required to create thicker tilt-up sections at panel legs to give the building walls depth at column-to-spandrel offsets.

To provide additional building wall thickness at the column locations, Tilt-up panels were overlapped at panel legs.

CREATIVE PLANNING FOR RESTRICTED SPACE

Since the design required more area of tilt-up panels (11,000 sf) than available area of floor space (casting area = 8,000 sf), creative planning and sequencing of the tilt-up was necessary.

ATTRACTIVE BUILDING DESIGNS USING TILT-UP MATERIALS

The utilization of creative tilt-up design and complimentary building materials resulted in a beautiful building that provides individual identity to each of the multiple tenants.

Not Going Green - "Ever" Green

The natural properties of tilt-up construction lead to enhanced sustainability.

From energy-efficient light bulbs to hybrid cars to LEED certified buildings, it is clear that “green” will be a way of life in American society, as well as in the building industry into the foreseeable future.

But, before sustainable design became a motivation, quality concrete tilt-up projects were constructed based on concepts of creating building envelopes that minimized the dynamic changes in temperature surrounding the building. So, before sustainability was an industry buzzword, tilt-up buildings were already recognized for advanced thermal efficiency.

Despite its ability to regulate temperature swings and minimize energy consumption, the truth is that there is no way to achieve a LEED certification with only the credits tilt-up concrete can provide. The largest share of LEED credits come from mechanical, electrical, plumbing and site considerations. Read more. (Used with Permission from Con Steel Alliance Times)
